Kenworth T900
Our customer wanted their Kenworth T900 to deliver the kind of rich, full sound you’d expect from a high-quality sound system upgrade. Because these trucks can be challenging to work with due to speaker size limitations and factory mounting locations, we carefully selected the best equipment possible to achieve excellent sound quality within those constraints. A few adjustments to speaker placement were needed during the installation process, but the end result was outstanding. The system now delivers impressive clarity and overall musical performance, with a subwoofer upgrade planned for the future to enhance the low-end response even further.
Fuse Holder
To ensure long-term reliability and protection, the connection fuse holders were securely mounted on the side of the battery panel, keeping them sheltered from the elements while helping protect both the vehicle and the audio system. Proper fuse protection is an essential part of any professional installation, as it safeguards the equipment and adds an important layer of safety to the vehicle’s electrical system.
We also used high-quality 4 AWG OFC power wire to deliver clean, reliable power from the battery to the amplifier, supporting strong performance and dependable operation
Amplifier
Two Focal FPX 4.800 four-channel amplifiers were used in this build to run all eight speakers in active configuration. This setup ensures that each speaker receives dedicated, optimal power for improved control, efficiency, and overall sound performance. By powering each driver individually, the system delivers greater clarity, better balance, and more precise tuning potential throughout the entire audio range
Overhead Panel
Over head panel was removed to determine where would be the optimal location to put the speakers and also to run the speaker wire so each individual speaker is run in active configuration.
Focal K2 Crossover
Crossover was used to manage the frequency range for each speaker and limit playback to the range it was designed to handle. This ensures that every speaker performs its intended role properly, improving overall sound quality while also helping to reduce distortion and protect the speakers from unwanted strain.
Focal K2 Mid and Tweeter
Focal K2 Power speakers are among the best-sounding options available in vehicle audio, making them an excellent choice for a premium sound quality build. For this project, we used a Focal K2 three-way speaker system featuring a tweeter, midrange, and woofer to deliver detailed, well-balanced sound across the full frequency range.
In this setup, we positioned the tweeters and midrange drivers to fire forward toward the driver, while the woofers were mounted facing downward on the dash. This design helped create a rich, immersive listening experience while keeping modifications to the factory interior as minimal and clean as possible.
Sound Deadening
Once all of the speakers were installed in their proper locations, sound deadening was added to further enhance quality. Sound deadening helps reduce unwanted panel vibration while also creating a more solid, stable surface for the speakers. This results in improved speaker efficiency, cleaner output, and better overall sound quality throughout the system.
